STEVE MONNINGER-FOOTBALL RECRUITER
Steve Monninger brings more than 25 years of coaching, recruiting, and college counseling experience to his role as Primary Football Consultant at Jeff Burton Consulting. A native of Westfield, New Jersey, Coach Monninger played linebacker at Middlebury College (VT), where he served as team captain during his senior season. Following his graduation in 1998, he joined the coaching staff at his alma mater and spent 13 years coaching multiple position groups and serving as the Defensive Coordinator.
Throughout his tenure at Middlebury, Coach Monninger was deeply involved in the recruiting process, evaluating prospective student-athletes both athletically and academically. His responsibilities included communicating with families, conducting recruiting evaluations, organizing campus visits, managing summer prospect camps, and guiding recruits through the college application process. His extensive experience at the collegiate level provided a comprehensive understanding of what coaches seek in prospective student-athletes and how families can successfully navigate the recruiting landscape.
In 2011, Coach Monninger transitioned to the high school ranks as Head Football Coach at Norfolk Academy in Virginia. Under his leadership, the program was transformed into one of the state's most respected private school football programs. His teams have captured multiple conference championships, earned several state playoff appearances, and his success has been recognized through numerous Coach of the Year honors.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Monninger serves as Norfolk Academy's College Counselor for Athletes, helping student-athletes and their families navigate every stage of the recruiting process. From identifying best-fit colleges, developing recruiting strategies to communicating with coaches, and helping families make final college decisions, Coach Monninger provides personalized guidance grounded in years of firsthand experience.
Having served as both a college coach and a high school head coach, Coach Monninger offers a unique perspective on every aspect of football recruiting. Across four decades of involvement in the sport, he has worked on both sides of the recruiting process and helped countless student athletes achieve their dream of playing college football. His extensive network of relationships within both the high school and collegiate football communities provides valuable insight and opportunity for the families he serves.

Known for his positive energy, approachable style, and straightforward advice, he helps families reduce the uncertainty and stress that often accompany the athletic recruiting process.
